AIt’s Pie Time! – Every Tuesday morning
St. Luke’s UMC, 700 New York Avenue, Martinsburg, WV. 
Our pie makers are busy at work every Tuesday morning in the church kitchen. Everyone involved in the Arts & Crafts Bazaar works very hard to produce the best pies possible at a reasonable price. They use fresh fruits and meat fillings to give them a homemade taste. You owe it to yourself, family and friends to share this gift. Do it for yourself, do it for your community. Live and Silent Auction – August 24 at 7 p.m.
Mt. Carmel UMC, 9411 Baltimore Road, Frederick, Maryland will be hosting an auction of items donated by the community and church members. There will be furniture, artwork, jewelry, household items, and many more. The doors will be open at 6pm for people to look over items and to enjoy some refreshments before the action begins. A good time will be had by all!

Lighthouse Singers Gospel Quartet – September 1 at 10 a.m.
Traditional Christian Gospel and Contemporary Music at Taylorsville UMC, 4356 Ridge Road, Mt. Airy, Maryland. Come enjoy the group and stay for a covered dish meal after the service.

AARP Smart Driver Course – September 3-4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Pikeside OAKS Ministry will host a two-day AARP Smart Driver Course on September 3 & 4 from 9am-1pm.  This course will take place in the Fellowship Hall and will teach proven driving techniques to help keep you and your loved ones safe on the road.  The cost is $20 for AARP Members and $25 for NON-AARP (payable to AARP on the first day of class – check & cash only).  RSVP by contacting the Church Office and have your name added to our student list.  Pikeside is located at 25 Paynes Ford Road, Martinsburg WV, and our facilities are handicapped-accessible.  Please call 304-263-4633 or visit www.pikesideumc.org for more information.

First Friday Drive Through – September 6, 4 p.m. until sold out
The Pikeside Men’s Ministry will host a take-out meatloaf dinner on Friday; September 6th starting at 4pm (until sold out). Each dinner is $8 and includes meatloaf, scalloped potatoes, green beans, roll & dessert. Pre-ordering is highly recommended by calling the church office 304-263-4633.  After pulling into the parking lot of the church, a member of the Men’s Ministry will take your order and deliver packaged dinners to your car for you to take home and enjoy in the comfort of your own home. Pikeside UMC in Martinsburg WV will hold its annual “Fall Fling” Rummage Sale on Friday; September 27 – 8am – 7pm and on Saturday, September 28 – 8am – 2pm.  Vendor Day – Saturday Only: Calling all vendors! On Saturday, September 28 (8AM-2PM), we are welcoming vendors of all kinds. Whether you are looking to sell items from your own yard sale, showcase your crafts, or promote direct sales products, we welcome you to join us. Autumn Christian Motorcycle Benefit Ride – October 12 at 8 a.m.
Pikeside in Martinsburg WV will host an Autumn Christian Motorcycle Benefit Ride on Saturday; October 12th at 8:00 a.m.  We will depart the church for a “Wild & Wonderful” Leaf Ride in the mountains of WV, before ending up in Berkeley Springs for a wonderful lunch at Charlotte’s Café (participants will pay for their own lunch).  To support our community, there will be a freewill offering taken at the beginning of the ride.  Pikeside is located at 25 Paynes Ford Road, Martinsburg WV and our facilities are handicapped accessible. Stuff and Truck for CCAP – October 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Let’s fill a truck with non-perishable food items for CCAP! Donations will be accepted Saturday October 26 from 9 AM to 5 PM.  Then, on Sunday morning, October 27, we’ll bless the food before delivering it to the CCAP facility. Community Trunk-or-Treat – October 26 at 6 p.m.
Pikeside in Martinsburg WV invites our community to join us for trunk-or-treating on Saturday; October 26 at 6 p.m. All attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food items to support Pikeside’s ‘Stuff-A-Truck’ food drive. How the Faith-Science Relationship Impacts Faith Formation (Free Hybrid Workshop)

Led by author Jennifer Secki Shields from Discovery & Faith
Perceptions of conflict between faith and science have long been known to contribute to the loss of 60% of our youth from the both the church and the Christian faith. This workshop will discuss how those perceptions of conflict impair faith formation in children and youth. We’ll explore practical approaches and solutions to this challenge that can be implemented within your existing ministries and budget. Participants will be equipped and resourced to help their students experience a better, healthier understanding of the faith-science relationship. This workshop will be offered in a hybrid format, in-person and via Zoom. Click here to register.

EarthKeeper Training


The BWC has 20 commissioned EarthKeepers and is seeking more United Methodists to lead grassroots environmental projects that are action-oriented, antiracist, bold and entrepreneurial. EarthKeepers is a training program that equips the laity and clergy to launch and grow environmental projects in their communities. The next in-person Global Ministries EarthKeepers course is Oct. 5 – 8 in Birmingham, Alabama; Denver, Colorado; and Hartford, Connecticut. The cost of the program is underwritten by the Board of Global Ministries (except your transportation the location). Learn more.

Day Apart for Youth at Camp Pecometh

Save the date for a day of fun, fellowship and talent on Sept 30 at 11 a.m. at Camp Pecometh. Youth and youth leaders of the BWC and Pen-Del will spend the day together at Pecometh enjoying games, inspirational talks, music, and a talent show. All youth are invited to attend, performing is not a requirement. Youth interested in performing must fill out this virtual audition form. The cost is $5 per person for lunch, snacks, games and more. Certificate in Congregational Leadership (CCL) Program

A newCertificate in Congregational Leadership (CCL) program uses online learning to provide a comprehensive approach to developing leadership excellence in the local church. The courses, which take about 10 hours to complete, may be taken for personal enrichment or certification.
The courses focus on church administration, sacraments, pastoral care, Wesleyan theology, time management, and United Methodist history and doctrine. To access the core courses, you will need an account in Assembly, the conference’s online learning portal. If you do not have one, you can register directly on the site.
